MILLEORTI FOR THE CITY 🙂🥕🍅

It’s a wonderful project by the Rimini-based association “Crescere Insieme Odv” to promote the social integration of young people with Down syndrome or other intellectual disabilities. A large plot of land, “Casa Macanno,” located just outside the city, is divided into several gardens tended by the association’s own young members and rented out to local businesses such as hotels and restaurants. Hotel Fabrizio is one of them.

We joined in 2021, and this year we’ll be repeating the experience for the fifth consecutive year 😃.

It’s wonderful to go to Casa Macanno without knowing what we’ll harvest. Because it depends on the seeds planted, the time of year, the rain, and the sun. It could be cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini, borage, wild greens, or some juicy cherry tomatoes. All fresh, local, and organic vegetables, grown with love. Of course, there aren’t many, not enough for everyone, but it still gives us great satisfaction to share them with our guests that same evening.

Next to the gardens live three donkeys, always looking for cuddles (but especially for a carrot or a tuft of fresh grass 🙂), and a majestic rooster, white and red, who never misses an opportunity to make his voice heard.

And, of course, there are the young people themselves, who tend to the land every day, making it sprout and grow.
